We get together at the Makkedaat Caves in the western Baviaanskloof (on the Willowmore side).
We ride about 30km every day. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. We pack saddle bags for lunches. It usually is a circular route. We will spend between 5 and 7 hours in the saddle every day.
Day 1 is a circle, southward from the Makkedaat caves to Matjiesfontein and back through Boskloof.
Day 2 is a circular route nothwards to Adamskraal, down with the Nuwekloof pass, and back to the Makkedaat with a 4x4 route.
Day 3 We move our base camp 20 km eastward to Bo-Kloof. We ride from place to place along with the river course, sometimes on the main road.
Day 4 We ride southwards with Uncle Ruben's pass and come back to Bo-Kloof through a very nice gorge.
Day 5 is again southwards with another 4x4 road, we turn east again and come back along Sewefontein.
Day 6 is a shorter circle. We climb up a “table mountain” & come with a footpath down the mountain.
The next morning we have breakfast together, load our horses and are on our way back home.
In total we ride about 175 km over the 6 days. Every day with its own beauty. In the evening we socialize enjoyably around the fire.
